The UC Innovation Center supports the organization in detecting, formulating and contracting R&D projects on request with UC researchers and academics

The UC School of Medicine has been working with Nanotec since 2018 on a new breast cancer treatment therapy. This project makes use of metallic nanoparticles, which are inserted in platelets, small cells that circulate within the bloodstream and help forming blood clots.

Functional ingredients and natural additives

The IFAN consortium (Functional ingredients and natural additives) is part of the strategic technology program from the Chilean Economic Development Agency, granted in 2016. Its objective is to diversify and sophisticate the supply of functional ingredients and natural additives for the national food industry. Over 10 companies, 4 universities (the UC among them) and more than 50 researchers are working on the 15 projects that are part of this consortium.

Crea y Valida

This grant from the Chilean Development Agency (CORFO) co-finances up to 70% of an R&D project (depending on the size of the applying company), offering up to CLP150 million in two stages: The first stage, “Crea”, grants up to CLP 100 million (amount varies by project specifications) for the development of a prototype. The second stage, “Valida”, grants up to CLP50 million, from a functional prototype stage to its industrial and/or commercial validation stage.
